Freelanship is different things to different people based on one’s experience level. If you need experience we connect you with cheap, quality project-based internships and increase your skill set’s online visibility. If you have a full portfolio already then we decrease the time it takes to find you a job.
For people who’ve gotten jobs w/o previous experience
Do you think employers would be more likely to hire if I went in to fill in the application, or if I just apply online?
Definitely go in and apply. It shows initiative. Also, ask to speak with a decision maker - not the receptionist.

I wouldn’t be below working a job that doesn’t pay much, or a job that’s just what it is— grunt work. But it becomes a problem when I can’t get a roof over my head with that. I know my college degree doesn’t mean jack shit, but now its become a matter of where, when, and whom.

Focus on creating a full portfolio
What is more important than lines on your resume? The pieces in your portfolio.
When I undertook my first internship, I did it because I thought it was what I should do. I missed a lot of valuable portfolio pieces and bullet points on my resume because I didn’t save the work I did or track the progress I was making.
Remember to keep track of the work you do at your internships so you can make an amazing resume AND have a full portfolio with valuable, real, major-related work.
Before I give you a list of the top resources for creating portfolios, here is a portfolio tip. At your internship, create a folder on your desktop called “portfolio.” In this folder, store everything valuable you do in PDF files. Then you can easily upload your pieces to one of these websites.
